In a continuation of adidas Originals’ city-themed releases, the latest drops focus on the football trainer of the 1960s, the Samba. In addition, amongst the three collaborators in Cheez, Kalavinka and YOPPI (founder of realmad HECTIC) are a distinct fixed gear theme. The collection is available now at

With so many pedal straps hitting todays market, it can be frustrating when deciding which ones to buy. The simple choice would be to select
Hold Fast because they are truly innovators of the FRS... no doubt about it. But being the best also means others will follow in their footsteps.
So recently, I stumbled upon the new
RESISTANT Pedal Straps... and if you know anything about RESISTANT, then you know they are very reputable and respected in Japan for their messenger bags. With that in mind... this is not some cheap knock-off company. I’m a huge fan of Shinich’s work and I’m glad to see his creativity is expanding to some nice pedal straps.

DVS is proud to announce the development of its first cycling specific skate shoe. Designed in collaboration with influential cycling brand,
Cadence, the Cadence X DVS Milan CTC has several bike specific performance and durability features that have never been used on a traditional skate shoe.
“From the beginning the goal was to create a cycling functional shoe that you can skate and walk around in all day,” says Cadence Owner Dustin Klein. “The result of our combined efforts is beyond what I had imagined.”
As a new category for DVS, The Milan CTC Cadence (Classic Tribute Cycling) has reflective detailing for nocturnal visibility, a stiffer lasting board that reduces leg fatigue and increases pedal stroke strength, and comes with specially designed patterning on the tongue that protects laces from toe cage damage. The shoe, however, functions equally as well as a skate shoe with all the skate-specific features as standard Milan CT.
Podium Distribution VP Brian Dunlap says developing a product for the cycling category was a very organic process. “I grew up racing BMX and bikes have always been a part of what I do. We wanted to go into the bike market with a shoe that we were 100% happy with. Involving Dustin and Cadence seemed like the most legit way to do it.”
The Milan CTC Cadence will be available at select skate and bike retail stores in May 2010.

Scott of Archie's Grobags sent me the hip pouch of all hip pouches… the Rosie! I don't even think I can review any more hip pouches from now on because the buck stops here with this little gem. Talk about a small sized hip pouch the can fit as much goods as a medium hip pouch. Inside you will find 3 pockets centered with 2 narrow pockets on each side… that's 5 pockets total. On the exterior flap you will also find a zippered pocket… that's 6 pockets total!
I like the way the mini u-lock is mounted through the hoops on the front. It provides easier access and alleviates the pain of having your u-lock ejected while hitting those unforeseen bumpy roads. Or having that class clown trying to yank your u-lock from under your nose. On the back side you will find two standard loops for you belt. Two extra loops are provided at the bottom of the pouch for your micro pump. The construction and design of this hip pouch is the best i've seen yet.
If you want one… send an email to archiesgrobags[at]hotmail.co.uk =)

Recently, I received a few pairs of
The Eliot by
Macbeth. Already owning a pair of
The Manchester... The Eliot was equally superb! Not to mention both models are part of their VEGAN line! My gawd... riding in them was just bliss. Even with our frigid weather... my feet retained its comfort and warmness. Absolutely the best shoes for my riding pleasures. Goodbye Vans... hello Macbeth!
Much love to

All the rumors are true, we've been working on a new frame for some time now and we finally got the second versions of the sample frame.
The samples are finally all out to Fonseca, Puckett, Mosher and Congo for testing. Without saying too much more, we do plan on leaking out more info little by little. Why? Because they are far away from production and we don't want to say more than we should since they could still be changed.
Our main goal on the Thrasher was to give you a lot more tire clearance, no more tire overlap (lengthened the TT), still run the rear wheel slammed and not have the tire rub the ST. All while still aesthetically looking clean with our new hour glass HT and BB shells. –

Introducing
Outlier's Pivot Sleeve Shirt, the classic buttondown shirt, re-engineered for 21st century movement. It began life as a dress shirt cut for urban cyclists, but the result is simply an overall better men's shirt. The patent pending pivot sleeve opens the arms up to a full range of motion, while eliminating the stress points and excess fabric that plague contemporary dress shirts. A lean active form counterbalanced with traditional single needle tailoring and two-ply Italian spun Egyptian cotton. Manufactured locally in Newark New Jersey with superb craftsmanship by the Gambert Shirt Corp.

This frame was initially an experiment to see how far we could push the boundaries and capabilities of 14 Bike Co’s resources. Andy at
FGLDN based the concept on a couple of frames he had owned in the past. This is a frame that is all about the details…
Many times this has been mistaken for Aluminum. This is a steel frame, Reynolds double butted 853 to be precise. We at
14 BIKE CO only work with steel when it comes to making our bicycle frames. This was a common choice for a custom frame 20 or so years ago, but today you would find it almost impossible to get your hands on something similar. 14 & FGLDN believe steel has soul because of the skill and time that goes into making a frame like this.
This is the jewel in 14’s crown, it is something that has had more thought and workmanship put into it than any frame we have produced before. This is a high performance street frame will be available in two different geometries: Tight and Super Tight! One for short distances or sprinting and the other will give a more comfortable ride for longer distances. You may think that you have seen something like this before… but never with the combination of technology and parts that we have available to us today. This steel aero frame is a rarity in today’s over run Carbon and Aluminum world. We want this to be a highlight in 14’s line up, something that stands out above everything else.
We intended this to be a frame you can abuse and it will still love you the next day. 14 Bike Co & FGLDN did not compromise on any part of the development and we hope that riders who will own this frame don’t compromise on the final build or the way they ride this bike…
Reynolds 853 double butted oversize aero tubing, custom drawn for 14 Bike Co. Full fillet brazing, takes a 27.2 Seat post and an English threaded bottom bracket. CNC machined custom drop outs. Wheel cut out on the seat tube for a shorter rear end. Integrated hidden headset. Frame set includes a carbon fibre monocoque fork.
14R frame + forks are priced at £1000.00 and can be pre-ordered from john[at]14bikeco.com. Framesets will be available from mid February.

Hector @
Faction Cycling sent me one of their "
Ghost" jerseys. It's truly important to always remember those who have fallen. The jersey is made of 100% Polyester Micro Denier Yarn. The quality... being made in the USA is absolutely superb! I have a few Capoforma jerseys and this particular jersey is comparable in comfort and fit. With the invisible zipper… it almost makes this jersey look like a pullover. Overall, good message, good garment… two thumbs up to Faction Cycling!

Superb Bicycle is pleased to present Sprocket Rockets, a collection of cycling inspired illustrations by UK artist Simon Peplow, from December 4th to January 8th. The show is curated by Meighan O'Toole (
myloveforyou) and includes prints as well as original work made specifically for Superb. Come join us for the opening of the show on Friday, December 4th from 6-8pm. Light refreshments will be served, and the illustrations will be available for purchase.
Simon Peplow is a Visual Tinkerer and general page perker upper, based in the South West of England, once home to the Fez adorning comic Tommy Cooper. Simon is co-founder of the Outcrowd Collective, and one of the curators behind The Joyful Bewilderment Exhibition. He favours solitude within a delicately constructed vortex, spending the majority of his days situated inside the corpus callosum region of his noggin, formulating new ideas and interestingly befuddled outcomes. Characters are fundamental to his work, described by some as whimsical, cute and sinister in equal measures. He just wishes they were his friends. Simon is also an esteemed waffler, hat sporter and an avid sprocket rocketeer".

Function, strength, and style, the
Outlier and
ML Brown & Co. Braided Keychain. Like so many urban cyclists we keep our keys carabineered to our belt loops. Not because we like it particularly but because it works; keys far enough away from the body that they don't cut into you as you pedal, close enough that you don't forget to take them along. We always thought there had to be a more elegant solution, and we turned to our friends at ML Brown & Co to help us out. We've long admired their leather-working craftsmanship and the result is practical, restrained and purposeful, braided leather plus a stainless steel sailing shackle hand bound together with waxed linen to create a keychain.
The
Braided Keychain attaches easily to a belt loop, but is long enough to tuck your keys out of site in a back pocket. It can also be worn around a bike lock chain to allow easy access for undoing the lock quicker. If your hands are full, wrap it around your wrist. The Harken 5 shackle is rated for sailing the high seas so we are guessing it can handle the weight of carrying your keys around town too.
