Fixed Film Festival 2012 (Submissions)

What is FxFF
It’s an event that we’d love to hold every year. Featuring fixed gear bikes and you! It can be anything, as long as it is connected to fixed gear world. We will pick best clips and hope to play them in a cinema (or giant screen the least), for you to sit around and enjoy with your crews. We won’t thrash the rest of the clips, we will also put them on a show (somewhere else). So pick up your camera, saddle up and have fun!

Rules
- Strictly Indonesian made
- Maximum duration of 5 minutes
- Put short credits of the clip (song, rider, clip maker, editor)
- The clips/videos must be made in 2011/2012
- Medium/High/HD quality please (no poor resolution allowed)

Submission
Videos and clips should be submitted a week before the festival. For now, it is still 20th June (the latest). You can e-mail fixedforward[at]gmail.com for more information and submission how to. More information updates soon.

K. Gibranos of WOOF sent me the official logo for the upcoming 2012 Fixed Fest in Jakarta, Indonesia. I received an invite to go, but my Europe trip conflicts with Fixed Fest. I hope everyone invited has a great time! Two dishes I recommend eating in Jakarta... Mie-goreng and Gado-gado!

Tales From The Crit | Volume 2

"The TFTC - Criterium wraps up a weekend of riveting Competition the following day. An unsanctioned race held in the night, the fixed gear criterium covers an undisclosed race distance, over multiple laps of an undisclosed technical circuit, the veil of secrecy adds to its appeal in the underground sub-culture of fixed gear events.

A field of cycling enthusiasts featuring; professionals, amateurs, messengers, and urban cyclists from the region and as far a field as Australia and the United Kingdom. With only 40 slots for this year, there will not be any reservation of slots, entry submission are on first come first served, while slots lasts basis."

"Following on from the successful inaugural Tales from the Crit in 2011, we are proud to present, Tales from the Crit Edition 2 (TFTC), a two day event slated for 25th & 26th May 2012.

We will kickstart the enthralling TFTC weekend with RoRoll Kidul Goldsprints (RRK-Goldsprints) at Home Club, presented by OBEY. RRK-Goldsprints is a one vs. one stationary sprint contest between two riders on identical fixed gear bicycles on rollers over a predetermined distance."

2012 Red Bull Ride + Style (Press Release)

San Francisco, CA (April 11, 2012) — On April 28, Red Bull Ride + Style will put the world’s fastest and most stylish fixed gear riders on center stage in Justin Herman Plaza for the second year in a row. Red Bull Ride + Style, a collision of fixed gear biking and urban contemporary art, features riders facing off in both track and freestyle competitions with the obstacles designed and decorated by local San Francisco artists. A fixed-gear bicycle is a bicycle that has no freewheel, meaning it cannot coast — the pedals are always in motion when the bicycle is moving. This allows a cyclist to stop without using a brake and also to ride in reverse. In 2011 the event brought together more than 50 invited riders from both coasts, including riders from fixed gear meccas San Francisco, Portland, New York, and Japan. This year non-invited riders will have a chance to qualify for the track portion of the event at the Red Bull Minidrome.
