For those who don’t know…
BLAQ is a sponsor for
Team Kagero. Rather than representing current stock items, Paul (BLAQ) and I thought it would be more fun to design a new backpack from ground up. Being the owner of innumerable backpacks, I had an idea of what direction I wanted to go with… simplistic and functional.
Using Illustrator, I laid out a design and sent it to Paul… along with a list of specs and features that would be incorporated into backpack. The main focus on this backpack was size… mainly the width. We kept the width right under 12-inches, but still tall enough to carry all of your essential items. Several weeks later, it was made to perfection.
The black outer shell is made of 1000D Cordura and extremely waterproof. The yellow interior liner is made of coated packcloth which is durable, flexible, and waterproof. The idea of using packcloth rather than vinyl was to save on weight! Vinyl is heavy and we wanted this backpack to be super light. Also, the bright yellow packcloth allows you to find your contents with ease… day or night.
Getting lost in an abundance of pockets is absolutely annoying to me. We designed this backpack to have the bare minimum… 2 tall side pockets, 1 large exterior YKK zipper pocket, and 1 large pocket in the interior compartment. The mouth of the gate features integrated strips of corrugated plastic which allows the mouth to keep its square shape, but at the same time allowing you to roll the gate in an even manner.
The exterior features a set of compression straps on each side and a set of compression straps at the base. The padded shoulder straps feature 1.5-inch webbing that is suitable for mounting mobile device holsters. A total of 5 D-rings have been strategically placed throughout the bag for a functional, yet clean look. Elastic bands have been placed on the main adjustment straps to absorb extra slack. A noticeable feature is the back-padding and its inverted pentagram design. Yes, we did this on purpose. The top of the backpack has a thick handle that is truly comfortable to the hands. For safety, we added a standard light loop to maximize visibility.
The final touch is a silk-screened
Kagero ghost print the runs along the side of the exterior pocket.
Because of the overwhelming interest of the Team Kagero backpack, Paul and I have decided to make this backpack available to the public… and not just the team.
Stay tuned...
