My buddy Dylan has been working on some really nice cycling specific gear for the past several years and it looks like Gear PDX has found its way to Chari & Co.

Soon after posting Full Windsor Quickfix & Foldnfix Foldable Bike Fenders entry, Mark from Full Windsor presented us the opportunity to test out these two fenders in the mentioned post. Within a week, they were delivered to my house. The Quickfix fender seemed to be the obvious choice for testing due to its lack of hardware.
The Full Windsor Quickfix is one of the most easy, space saving, and stylish fenders I have ever worked with. From out of the packing to mounting it on my frame… it was less than 30 seconds. Even without the instructions, its origami design does all the guess work for you. Several clear vinyl strips are included in the packaging to protect your frame against rubbing.
The fender itself is made from polypropylene plastic which makes it very durable and stiff. And once the sides were folded in… even more stiff! The snap buttons are industrial grade and feature black studs that blend perfectly with the fender. The fender mold is so precise that the fender centers perfectly with your rear wheel.
The Quikfix was ace throughout my entire ride in Portland's torrential downpour. With its rigid form, spastic bobbling of the fender was kept at a minimal low. Most importantly it did its job and kept my behind... debris free. Foldable and easy to stow… the Full Windsor Quickfix is a solid fender hands down!

The new Hold Fast Day Pack has finally arrived! Rob from Hold Fast gave me one during Interbike and it seriously rocks!
"The inspiration for our newest product comes from our desire for a more simple approach to cargo. If you’re like us, you tend to ride around with an extra-large pack or bag, overloaded with things that you don’t really need for everyday riding. This backpack strips all that away.
Large enough to carry all your essentials for a day trip, this lightweight two-compartment water-resistant backpack provides a streamlined shell with no blind spots. It has room for a 15-inch laptop, change of shoes, camera, tools – whatever you need to keep you going throughout your day.
Each side pocket perfectly fits a U-lock or water bottle, and allows you to bury the zipper pulls for greater security.
The ergonomic shoulder straps are comprised of a moisture-wicking three-dimensional spacer mesh fabric that provides superior airflow with ample padding and support.
The integrated side compression straps work in tandem with the adjustable sternum strap and optional waist belt (available separately) to keep your cargo secure.
The bound daisy-chain handle offers multiple lash points, should you need to strap on additional cargo, such as rain gear or a wheel-set.
There’s also a double row of MOLLE supports, to which you’ll be able to add on additional components very soon.
Proudly made in the USA.
One size fits all, with a Volume of 10.5 L, and it’s dimensions are 11" wide, 18" high, and 5" deep. Many trim colors available."

Mad respect to Lucky Bastërds for sending us a pair of their V2 Pedal Straps... and that super NICE cycling cap! Since most FRS straps function and embody the same characteristics... rather than a review, we wanted to put Lucky Bastërds in the spotlight for making some well crafted straps.
» Handmade in Barcelona, our pedal straps offer superior rigidity, comfort and adjustability.
» Perfect for riding in the city, extreme fixed gear tricks or bike polo.
» Easy to install, they work best on platform/BMX pedals.
PC staffer Jason Finn met up with PDX transplant Taylor Dwight for a quick photo shoot of the straps. Gotta love colorway and details!

When the boys of YNOT sent me The Gulper backpack, I was overwhelmed with joy... especially after seeing this beauty in action @ Interbike 2011. The Gulper is not your run-of-the-mill backpack! It's original, functional, and bombproof.
What caught my attention when I first saw The Gulper was its size. Not too wide, not too short... just proportionally on point! I usually get annoyed when a backpack has way too many steps in compressing its shape and size, but not this good ol' boy! As Tom Mosher was demonstrating this wonder backpack, I was really intrigued with the single front strap and how easy it was to adjust the shape and size of the backpack. Kudos for that!
The 1000D Cordura exterior shell features a front pocket w/two divided compartments, two side pockets w/compression straps, well-padded shoulder straps, sternum strap, back padding, and reflective accents. One feature I wanted to point out is the use of eyelets at the base of the side pockets. This is an important feature... especially if you live in a very wet climate. In a wet environment, side pockets are usually prone to take on moisture. With the use of eyelets on The Gulper... water is easily expelled from its side pockets. And that's a win-win for me!
The interior of The Gulper features a florescent orange vinyl truck tarp liner which makes it soooo easy to find what you are looking for. I never could understand why so many companies use black interior liners?! Lastly, you will find an interior pocket perfectly sized for your large documents or laptop.
The Gulper is a sound backpack and I highly recommend one if you're in the market for a new backpack.
Thanks Tony and Tom!
